A Better Look at Things

:

The Designio Leather Sleeve for Tilt/TyTn II comes in a very nice presentation box with the Boxwave log on the front, on the side is an identifying label.

Once we open the box we find a small plastic bag with the belt clip and screw inside, and we find another black cloth bag which has the case inside of it. Very nice presentation overall…

leather3   leather4

The screw and clip are separate so you can make your choice of to use it or not, it's a basic clip that you'll find on most cellphone cases.

leather5   leather6

The case itself comes with a styrofoam insert inside of it to help it keep it's shape, but once it's out you can get a good look at the case. The first thing you'll notice, besides the smell of real leather, is the second hole at the top of the case, since this case is also compatible with the TyTn II that hole is there for its front facing camera.

leather7   leather8

There isn't much to the front of the case, this is good though as it allows you full access to your phone.

leather9

The inside of the case is very soft, a felt like material was used to line the inside to protect your phone. The material also adds a bit of padding as well for even more protection.

The back of the phone has cut-outs so you can still use the GPS and camera features of the TyTn II or your Tilt. Of course on the back we also find the female threaded hole to attach the belt clip, it seems attached very well and should keep your phone safe and secure. On the bottom of the back of the case is the Boxwave logo as well.

To attach the clip you just need to screw the screw in place and clip the clip on (that sounds odd, but that's how it works…). The clip moves very freely and does not lock into place, allowing your phone to freely rotate on the screw… personally I don't like this aspect of this case, I like my phone to lock in place and stay put.

The case seems very well made, the stitching is tight and I didn't find any loose stitches anywhere on it. It's leather so that does make it durable and adds a protective layer for your phone.

Installation, Testing and Comparison

'Installing' your phone in this case is fairly easy, it is a tight fit though and some work is required to get it all the way in there, that's a good thing though as you wouldn't want it to be loose fitting to your phone for safety reasons.

leather19   leather20

One thing very nice about this case or sleeve is that it allows you access to all of the buttons on your phone while it's in the case.

You can even access the keyboard and tilt the screen without removing it from the case.

leather28   leather29

I used this case for a week and overall I like it, but it's not something I would want to keep my phone it at all times… the reason being it that it offers little protection for the screen since it's forward facing and the fact that it swivels freely with the clip, but that's just my opinion, and other might like being able to show off their phones in this way.

There's just something I don't like about the freely swiveling clip, it just bothers me and makes me feel less secure about the phone. I never had a problem with it though, it never fell off my belt or anything like that…

The fact that it's forward facing bothers me because it you bump into something you can easily damage the screen, let's face it we're all human and clumsy at points in our lives, we all bump into things at some point or another, and I wouldn't want that point of impact to be the screen of my nice, new expensive phone… as I said other people might not case about this, but that's just me.

Answering a call is fairly easy, the release for the clip is easy to get to once you do it a few times, the first couple times are awkward, and you really can't do it with one hand until you've had a bit of practice at it. The clip itself stays securely on your belt and it's actually fairly hard to remove, this is a good thing though as you wouldn't want it coming off easily.

The fact that the buttons, camera and GPS are accessible is a nice bonus, and that you don't have to take it from the case to access all of the features is another great feature as well.

Summary:

The Designio Leather Sleeve from Boxwave is a nice choice for soemthing to carry your Tilt or TyTn II around in, it offers the ability to access all the features of your phone while still offering great protection.

Overall if you're looking for a quality leather case for your Tilt or TyTn II then you might want to consider this one from Boxwave.

Personally though it's just not for me…
