USB Drives come in all shapes and sizes, many companies out there are making them now. They have become extremely popular due to their portability, capacity and speed. Today for review I have a different sort of USB drive from a company called Itaitech, it is called the Colorful Card USB Drive, it is a bit smaller than a business card, and about the thickness of four or five of them. Essentially you could carry this USB drive in your wallet along with your other cards, making it a bit more portable than others out there. Yes the others are smaller, but they are a lot easier to misplace as well. Read on to check it out…

A Better Look at Things
:
The Colorful Card USB Drive comes in the ever popular plastic clamshell, but it’s the easy open kind. We can plainly see the card through the packaging front. It’s Santa Claus!
On the back of the packaging we see the specs listed and get a view of the faux leather carrying case/business card holder.
Opening up the package we find only the USB drive and the carrying case. You can plainly see the USB adapter on the front, it is the same thickness as the card, so it sits flush inside the card. There is also a tiny LED on the top corner of the card to indicate activity and power.
On the back we can get a better look at the USB adapter and ribbon style cable for it.

A Better Look at Things
Continued:
The carrying case has two pockets, one for the card and the other for your business cards, so it is kind of a bonus case, or dual purpose.
The USB card itself feels well made as if it will be able to withstand a bit of abuse from being carried around. It is extremely light, about the weight of a standard credit card actually.
There are many designs available, in fact Itaitech included them on the drive they sent me so I could show you, they will also custom make them as well with your own logo, design etc.

Installation, Testing and Comparison
The Colorful Card USB Drive is about the size of a standard credit card and about the thickness of two of them. Here it is next to my Starbucks card for an example.
When plugged in the USB Card has the LED in the top corner that lights up red for power and then blinks for activity. It would have been really cool had they figured out a way to get the LED where the star on the tree is, or fit the picture that way… Oh well, just a thought…
For testing I used Hd Tach RW and put it up against some other USB drives I have on hand.
Some info so you understand the results a little bit better:
-Random access speed is lower the better. (in milliseconds)
-Burst speed is higher the better. (in Mb/s)
-Sequential Read is a bit different, the speeds will vary, I took the highest and recorded that. (in Mb/s)
-Average Read is higher the better of course. (in Mb/s)
Well we can see that if you are looking for speed then it would be the Tough Drive obviously, overall the Colorful Card USB Drive isn’t the fastest, but it isn’t the slowest either. It all depends what you are looking for I guess, if speed counts then you know what to get, but the USB Card is a bit different and might be something that could appeal to business people, they can carry their cards and USB drive in one place.
Summary:
The Colorful Card USB Drive from Itaitech is a novel idea and there are many applications that could be possible with it. The idea of a business card USB drive is actually cool, companies could put their logo etc right on the case and info on the USB drive, the possibilities are endless really. It might not be the fastest drive out there, but it’s one that won’t get lost easily, and the included carrier is really cool.
DragonSteelMods gives the Colorful Card USB Drive a 4 out of 5 score.
