Installation, Testing and Comparison
Of course the first thing you need to do is install the software, and I quickly found the software on the cd is just very buggy, the interface would lock up constantly and you’d have to close it out and restart it, but there is an update on the Brando site for the new version. Even the new software is still not perfect but it does work much better, less lockups with it, but it still does lock up from time to time.
The software interface is made in a military style, at the very bottom there is a check box where you can turn the sound effects off if you wish, they do get annoying after a while. You can control the missile launcher with the interface of with your keyboard, the cursor keys control direction and the space bar will fire the missiles.
Here’s two videos of the USB Missile Launcher in action, one has sound effects one does not.
and if you didn’t know DragonSteelMods has it’s own YouTube channel HERE, it is where all the videos or products and game clips are stored, over 140 of them now… check it out if you get time..
You may have noticed in the videos that sometimes it does not fire, well that is another downside to it. Also I found that using the keyboard is much easier than using the mouse and control interface, using the keyboard allows for faster movements of the launcher, while using the interface you have to continue clicking to get it to move any direction.
There are a few drawbacks, but then again it isn’t quite a state of the art missile launcher, just a gadget or toy to have some fun with. It was fun for about 10-15 minutes for me and that was that, my kids really enjoy it and keep asking me to use it for them, they like me to fire the missiles and they try and catch them…yeah they’re young, 5 and 6 years old…
As for the actual launcher, it does shoot very far, I got a range of about 20 feet with it. It is a bit hard to aim though, but once you play with it for a while you can get the hang of it.
