Unboxing
As I mentioned, the eFizz is a big speaker system and it comes in a large box. As a frame of reference, picture a large laser printer box and you can get the idea of the size of the packaging. The box is predominantly white with some black borders and text to contrast the pictures of the eFizz on the box. On the front and top of the box there is a picture of the eFizz speaker along with the remote and the Ewoo logo next to it. On the bottom of the front we find a black border with a series of logos, listing the specs of the eFizz on the right. The logo – Acoustic Engineering by Cabasse is found on the lower left corner of the box.
On the side panels we see the eFizz with the remote docked within the speaker system and on the other side we see a large shot of the remote, a list of its features and box contents.
The back of the package indicates the types of iPods supported and the General Features of the eFizz in six different languages.
Upon opening the packaging, we see two small boxes sitting on a foam insert. Inside these boxes are the remote control (please note that Ewoo calls this remote the HandMusic remote, but for the sake of the review, when I refer to HandMusic, it is to the other Ewoo product and not this remote) and six different size iPod universal dock adapters, a mini-USB cable, power supply and plugs for US, EU and UK use, and a CD containing the user guide.
Once this foam insert is removed, we find the actual eFizz sound system wrapped in a foam protective sheet.
Once the eFizz is outside of the box, we see how shiny the piano black material truly is. The very front of the eFizz has two large speakers on each side with padded grills and the Ewoo logo in silver displayed prominently on the top of the front.
On the top of the eFizz, we see five buttons, the far two on the left control the volume, while the other three, control playback, reverse and forward on the docked iPod. Behind this control pad, is where the remote sits when getting charged within the unit. Finally, behind the remote dock is the iPod connector dock area.
The sides have a rubbery elevated Ewoo logo where the speaker elegantly curves towards the back.
Flipping the eFizz over, we find a central subwoofer speaker with a Ewoo emblazed rubberized bar to protect the subwoofer from harm. Near this speaker is a recessed area where we find a mini-USB connector; an audio S/PDIF connector, an audio analog connector and a power supply connector.
If the remote looks familiar, it should be, since it is the same one found in the Ewoo HandMusic. This remote works via 2.4 GHz and can control the eFizz from up to 500 feet away. The remote is rectangular with a circular ring near the touch zone and tapers to a half circle at the base.
There is an Ewoo logo embossed at the bottom of the remote just below the touch zone, which is the main control panel. This control scheme will look and feel familiar to all iPod owners. This circular zone features five buttons, a forward, back at the sides, play/pause on the bottom and menu at the top. In the middle of the touch zone is the select button. Finally above this zone we see the 1.8” TFT screen.
On the back of the remote, we find two charging contacts towards the bottom and below that a miniUSB connector port. The sides of the back are silver with a black rubberized surface.
