Installation, Testing and Comparison
There’s not much to install except the SIM Card Editor software, the SD2GO reader itself is recognized and installed by Windows XP automatically. The only thing you need to really install is the cards into their slots…
One thing that is very nice about this reader is that you don’t have to use an adapter to access your Tflash or MicroSD cards, there is a special, spring-loaded slot just for them. Push the card in till it clicks and then push again and out pops your card.
The speed is comparable to every other card reader, the only deciding factor is the speed of the card itself. There is actually an LED indicator on the SD2GO, but it is located under the black colored ‘CARD R/W’ badge on the reader, but it is so faint that you can barely see it, I just happened to notice it.
The SIM Card Editor software is very basic and it allows you to copy, edit, back up all your entries on your SIM card, it also allows you to view and edit SMS messages as well.
The SIM Card Editor software is very easy to use and it does include a brief ‘help’ option as well, that goes into great details about how to do what you need to do with your SIM card. The software is nice to be able to backup all your contacts if you don’t have a data cable for your phone, this way you’ll always have them no matter what.
