Unboxing
The box for the Cedar Mill 631 is rather cool; there are windows on it that allow you to see the CPU itself and the cooler. Of course the box has all the tech specs and features etc listed all over it. And included are an owner’s manual, warranty and a sticker.
The CPU came packaged alongside its cooler, but in a separate compartment. Basic molded plastic was used for protection of the components.
I have to admit, I really like the look of the CPU cooler, it has a futuristic style to it. The idea of no fan guard is a bit of a let down though.
The CPU cooler has four legs that lock the cooler into place, and unlock it as well.
The cooler itself appears to be aluminum with a copper core, there is a pre-installed thermal pad, so I really can’t get a good look at the finish of the surface just yet. (I’ll be reviewing that shortly, so keep a look out for that review…)
The processor itself comes packaged in the box, but in its own little box and it has a protective cover over the back of the CPU. I tried to get a picture of the number on the CPU itself, but they are so faint that I just couldn’t get a picture of it, I could barely read it with my eyes up close.
Flipping the CPU over and removing the cover, we find, NO PINS, whoa I thought when I first looked at it. Like I mentioned I never really played with Intel system before, and really didn’t follow Intel fab processes, so I was taken by surprise by the fact that there are no pins on the bottom of the CPU.
