iPod AV, Sync and Charging Dock with Remote Review

Unboxing

The iPod AV, Sync and Charging Dock with Remote arrives in two separate boxes.

The Universal Dock comes in a black box. On the front, there is a picture of the dock and the words, Universal Dock in white. On the sides respectively, there are pictures of the front and rear of the dock. The outer box is a sleeve and the inner box features the dock with a dock adapter installed and two additional dock adapters and a set of instructions.

The Remote comes in a black box with a picture of the remote against a black background. Inside the box, the remote is found along with the instructions. The remote is powered by a single cell battery and comes pre-installed.

The dock is white with an infrared receiver window located in the middle of the front of the dock. The back features a dock connector as well as 3.5mm AV line-out jack.

iPod AV, Sync and Charging Dock is narrower than the original iPod Dock, but is a little taller.

The remote features a circular ring with a center play/pause button. The buttons have a familiar appearance to the first generation iPod’s click pad. The center button is the play/pause button, the top and bottom control the volume and the left and right buttons are the previous/rewind and the next/fast forward options

The iPod AV, Sync Charging Dock Remote is shorter and wider than the Apple Computer Remote.

On the instructions, it is noted, “you can’t use the remote to skip to a different playlist. You must use the iPod controls to choose another playlist.”

One thing lacking in the package is an iPod AV Cable and the Dock connector cable. To get the optimal use of the iPod AV, Sync and Charging Dock with Remote, these cables will need to be obtained.
