CrystalDiskMark, ATTO, AS SSD, and Time Tests
Up next we have Crystal Disk Mark and the results are ordered slowest to fastest.
Not bad overall. The write speeds are faster on the HyperX but read speeds are faster on the Vertex 3. Not sure which I would prefer, either way though the HyperX is fast, there’s no doubt there.
The next test would be ATTO Disk Benchmark; order is the same, slowest to fastest.
The Vertex 3 appears to be slightly faster but what I want to point out is that Kingston says the HyperX 3K will do 555MB/s Read and 510MB/s Write. In ATTO the HyperX 3K maxed out at 532MB/s Write and 557MB/s for Read. It’s just a little over the rated read speed but quite a bit over the rated write speeds, so that’s not too bad.
Also the HyperX 3K is again slightly faster than the Vertex 3 for write speeds which only hit 527MB/s. The read of the Vertex 3 hit 559MB/s and the HyperX 3K hit 557MB/s, very close.
The next test I ran was using AS SSD, I ran both the copy and standard tests for all three SSDs I have on hand.
First up is the Micron which is the slowest:
Then the Vertex 3, which was second fastest:
And finally here’s the HyperX 3K, which came out the fastest overall:
I’d say the HyperX is decent performer overall.
The last test I ran was a basic one, just boot times. I just timed how long it takes to boot. I was using the Samsung F4 as my main drive, then the OCZ Vertex 3, RealSSD finally the HyperX 3K for comparison. I use a password for my computer so the time’s I recorded are from the time I push the power button to the login screen, and then put the password in as fast as I could, just a second or two, and then I let the computer finish booting which to me is an actual usable desktop with sidebar gadgets loaded.
Times to login screen:
- Samsung: 52 seconds
- Micron RealSSD: 37 seconds
- Vertex 3: 38 seconds
- HyperX: 38 seconds
Times to usable desktop:
- Samsung: 2:19
- Micron RealSSD: 1:13 seconds
- HyperX: 47 seconds
- Vertex 3: 58 seconds
Here again of course we see the HyperX does very well, nice and fast boot times to usable desktop.
