Kingwin Revolution RVT-12025 CPU Cooler Review

Testing and Comparison:

Now onto the testing to see just how well the Kingwin Revolution RVT-12025 CPU Cooler performs and how it compares when put up against other coolers out there today.

Ambient temperature during all testing was 19C (+/- .3C).

To achieve load I used Orthos Stress prime and used the latest version of CoreTemp to log results, then they were average out to get the data in the charts.

Testing on the C2Q6600 was the same except two instances of Orthos Stress Prime were run with Affinity set tot he separate cores to achieve 100% load on the CPU.

All tests were run several times over the course of 5 days then averaged out.

The first set of tests were run using the included white thermal compound, the rest of the tests were run using Arctic Cooling MX-2 Thermal Compound to insure good comparison results with the other coolers.

Since I just tested the RVT-9225 I figured I’d include it in the stock thermal compound chart for comparison sake.

As expected the large cooler does a bit better in cooling my C2D CPU.

First up we have testing with my C2D6420 with cooler/fan connected to CPU header:

When the RVT-12025 is connected to the CPU header the fan runs slowly, and it never hits the rated 1500 max RPM, but it’s silent and does perform well even with the fan running slowly.

Next up is with the fan connected to the Molex, or running at full rated speed.

Here we see the Kingwin tops the charts with some excellent performance with the fan running at full speed, even running at full speed the fan is virtually silent, it adds no extra noise to the system.

Now we have the RVT-12025 with no fan at all on my C2D6420 and we can see it offers some decent temps, and could possibly be used for truly silent cooling.

Now we have testing on my C2Q6600, first up again is with the fan connected to the CPU header:

Here again we see the RVT-12025 with a relatively high temperature compared to the others, but still decent performance overall.

Here we have testing on the C2Q6600 with the fan connected to the Molex:

Again we see excellent performance, very good cooling, with the RVT-12025 coming in second best out of 17 coolers tested.

And finally we have the RVT-12025 on my C2Q6600 running with no fan at all:

Decent performance, but a bit high for my tastes, I wouldn’t want my C2Q running at that high temperature for any long periods of time…
