Most of our life is about work, but we do need to take a play break every once in a while and relax. When we’re kids we spend most of our time playing and learning, but as adults we spend our time working and learning with not much play involved, and that’s not a good thing we do need to take time out and relax and let the stresses of everyday life recede away.
I’m still a kid at heart, even though I’m about to turn yet another year older in a couple days and I’ve got children of my own now, but I still like toys, especially remote control ones. I think most guys out there have a soft spot for RC stuff no matter what it is, and will find time to play with them.
Today for review I’ve got a cool little Remote Control Forklift from TrendTimes.com, it’s full of features, including movable, working forklift, full movement control and it includes a pallet, warning cones and even a little storage crate to carry around on it.
It’s a great little toy to run around on your desktop and have a little fun during the day to help break the stresses of life up a bit…

A Better Look at Things
:
The packaging for the RC Forklift is bright and colorful as is to be expected, the colors are themed warning orange and black as you might see at a construction site. Through windows on the front of the box you can see the Forklift, Remote Control and Pallet. The back and sides have pictures about installation of batteries and controller usage.
Opening up the box we find a plastic compartmentalized container with everything in it, on the back is where we find the cargo box or crate which is just a cardboard box.
Unpacking everything we can get a better look at it all, included in the box is the Forklift itself, four orange warning cones, pallet, remote control, user manual and the cargo crate.
Let’s take a quick look at the remote before we look at the actual Forklift… The remote includes a telescopic metal antenna, two gamepad like controller buttons and on/off switch on the front. There’s also a rocker type switch on the top right corner that control the actual fork to make it go up and down. The battery compartment is on the back, the housing of the remote is a smoke colored see-though case.
The Forklift itself is actually very well detailed and seems to be well made. It looks just like a real forklift does only a lot cleaner… Here’s several views:
On the bottom is where you’ll find the on/off switch and a trim slider to make sure the Forklift drives straight.
The detail is very well done, right down to the seat, gear shift, steering wheel and even anti-slip pattern on the floor of the cabin.
The actual Fork part of the Forklift is controlled by a small motor located at the bottom, it’s controlled by a string and pulley system.
Well that should give you an idea of what it looks like, so let’s move on to actually using it and a few movies that I have for you as well..
Installation, Testing and Comparison
Well for this section there really is no installation procedure unless you count installing the batteries in the forklift and remote part of the installation.
Both the remote and forklift have a single screw that holds the battery covers in place. We need four ‘AA’ batteries for the forklift and one 9-volt battery for the remote.
When powered on the remote lights up, and it reminds me of a pair of eyes, the Forklift is also supposed to have working lights but mine doesn’t…
Here’s a couple pictures of the Forklift and crate, following that are three movies of it in action.
The first movie is just basically driving around and trying to pick up the crate and pallet again, but it gives you an idea of how the Forklift works… it’s actually a bit hard to get it precisely where you want it to go.
For the second movie I used the cones as a makeshift obstacle course, it takes a bit to get accustomed to having the ‘steering’ wheel in the back of the vehicle…
The last movie is just assorted movements and controller usage…
I hope the movies gave you an idea of how the Forklift works, it seems to act like a real forklift anyway…
One small problem I found was that the lift sometimes gets stuck going up or down, not sure if that is specific to the one I got or not. I did see other videos of the RC Forklift on YouTube and theirs didn’t seem to have that problem, so it might be the one I got.
Using it is as can be expected, it takes a bit to get a feel for how to control the forklift, it can be a difficult at first to maneuver but with time anyone can do it.
Controller response is decent, but the range is not the advertised 80 feet, it’s more around a 20 ft range.
I did experience a bit a interference, which might have possibly been from my wifi but I’m not sure about that because some days it worked fine and other days it was choppy running even though my wifi is on all the time.
I also found that the lift cannot lift 100 pennies as advertised as well…
So much for truth in advertising eh? Then again is there such a thing?
Anyway, despite that the RC Forklift is a cool little gadget that I had fun with and my kids did as well.
Summary:
Despite the fact that it can’t pick up 100 pennies or that the range is not 80 feet , the RC Forklift is still a cool little toy that is a lot of fun to play with.
There are many RC toys out there, but I haven’t seen many construction types like these, it’s definitely a ‘boys toy’ for sure. Now we just need to see more little RC construction vehicles and we can really have some fun!
DragonSteelMods gives the Mini Remote Control (RC) Forklift a 4 out of 5 score.
Pros:
-Nicely detailed
-Full functions
-Long range
-Seems well made
-Nice extras included
-A fun distraction
Cons:
-Can’t lift the advertised 100 pennies
-Range is not 80 feet as advertised, more like 20 feet
