miniSync for Apple iPhone from Boxwave Review

In many ways, the Apple iPhone is similar to the iPod including the need to be charged and sync via USB and electrical outlet. The iPhone ships with a charging/sync cable that is similar in appearance to cable that accompanies many of the newer iPods. Unlike most iPod connectors, the iPhone’s connector cable does not include tension clips. However, there is no other physical difference between the iPhone and iPod’s sync/charging connectors. Both can be used interchangeably.

Unboxing

The miniSync for iPhone arrives in a plastic baggy. There are no instructions or packaging included. A fairly environmentally sound package, don’t you think?

The cable extends to a maximum length of 24 inches. Pulling back on the extended cable will cause it to recoil back into the central hub. The cable itself is flat and flexible.

The color choices for the miniSync for iPhone include either white or black (shown). It is a USB 2.0 cable for optimal speed for data and song transfer. The iPhone connector portion does feature the retention clips that are absent on the sync cable included with the iPhone.

Installation, Testing and Comparison

When plugged into the iPhone, the miniSync worked perfectly. There was no noticeable difference in terms of transfer speed or syncing speed using the Boxwave cable.

The cable provides ample length and the connections are secure. The only concern, I had was that the cable insertion into the USB end feels like it can be torn off if pulled directly on the cable. This had more to do with the thinner profile of the cable than the quality of the build.

I did not use the iPhone wall charger adapter with the miniSync cable, since there were no included instructions or specifications about using it in such a manner.

Summary and Comments:

If you need a portable iPhone sync/power cable solution, then the miniSync for iPhone from Boxwave is a great solution. The quick extending/retracting cable is a perfect on the go solution for any iPhone user.

DragonSteelMods gives the miniSync for iPhone a 5 out of 5 score.
