Unboxing
The Monster iCarPlay Wireless 250 comes in a clear plastic packaging with the product displayed alongside a white and lime green cardboard. The Apple sanctioned Made for iPod and Made for iPhone logos means that this product is Apple tested and approved.
On the back of the packaging is a detailed description of the product and a list of features. Tune, Play and Charge are listed on the side with accompanied pictures of the iCar Play.
Once the packaging has been opened, the iCarPlay Wireless 250 is found in a silver plastic casing with the charger and the cable segments separated. Also included is an instruction sheet and the sheet on how to dispose of the device for numerous European countries.
The device is black with silver accents on the iPod/iPhone connector and on the charger plug. The 12V cigarette lighter plug has a quarter sized head with an LED backed Monster Logo and the words Monster in silver writing beneath it. At the bottom of this oval portion is the USB port, where the cable attaches.
The 12V cigarette lighter plug allows any USB connector to be attached and provide a charge; So, if you use a different phone than an iPhone, you can still charge your phone with this device.
The USB cable with the attached control unit measures 41.5 inches in length. The control unit is a black square unit measuring 1.5” x 1.5”, on this square is a circular control ring with three buttons on the side.
These side buttons are labeled 1,2, and 3 and have the letters M, D, and S next to them. The numbers indicate the preset frequencies that one can assigned. All of the buttons have two functions; the M is manual tuning and tuning up the frequencies, the D is for tuning down the frequencies and to adjust the display, while the S button is for auto-scanning and setting the frequency.
The center of the circle features the LCD display and the Monster name and logo in silver. When the iCarPlay is powered on, the LCD is a blue back lit display.
