Summary and Comments
Overall the MSI P6N motherboard is not a bad performer, of course there are better and there are worse as with any product.
One of the main reasons I picked this board in particular, besides having two IDE ports, was the cooling system on the board itself. I needed something that would keep things nice and cool since it runs 24 hours a day 7 days a week and in the summer sometimes people forget to turn the air conditioner on. I was also looking for something that would not be prone to failure, the last motherboard I used was an MSI also, the southbridge fan failed on it and was causing stability issues, so even if the fan on this board fails it should still remain cool with the heatpipe system. The fan is mainly used when overclocking the system, but I installed it anyway just because of the added cooling abilities of it.
It’s a nice basic board that does as it should, it does have some attractive features also, and since the introduction of the new 780i chipsets the prices of the 600 series are falling, this board can be had cheaply most places online.
