Unboxing
The mStation 2.1 Stereo Orb arrives in a mostly black cube box and features three pictures of the mSattion of sides and back of the package. The top and front feature the mStation logo along with the 2.1 Stereo Orb name.
Included on the top is a white plastic carrying handle. The back lists the three Cs of the mStation 2.1 Stereo Orb which include Connect, Control and Communicate. The bottom of the box lists the features and specifications of the mStation.
Upon opening the package, one is greeted by the instruction booklet.
Found underneath it in a Styrofoam bed are the six docking adapters, the remote, power adapter, USB connector cable and a stereo mini jack connector. Lifting this Styrofoam container reveals the mStation 2.1 Stereo Orb safely nestled in some more Styrofoam.
The mStation is composed of piano black plastic with a speaker grill around the midriff of the housing. At first glance, it looks like a small bowling ball.
The back side of it has a round grill, which I assume covers the subwoofer segment. Below this grill is a small rectangular recessed area which houses a line in port, USB, Firewire ports and Power connectors.
The top of the unit has six buttons, a power indicator light and the infrared port. The top also has a dock protector plate and can be exchanged with any of the six included dock plates. mStation includes dock connectors for the iPod Mini, iPod Nano, 3g iPods, iPod Photo, 60g iPod Video, and 30g iPod Video.
The remote is black and matches the main unit. It offers these basic functions; play/pause, next song, previous song, volume, bass, treble, and power buttons.
