Noctua NF-S12A ULN 120mm Cooling Fan Review

Installation and Testing

Here’s the fan installed on my Noctua NH-U12P over an Intel 2600k.

For comparison I’m using a few other Noctua fans. The NF-F12 PWM runs at 1500rpm top speed, while the NF-S12A PWM runs at 1200rpm and 900rpm with the low noise adapter in use. The NF-S12A FLX runs at 1200rpm, 900rpm with the low noise adapter and 700rpm with the ultra low noise adapter. Then we know the NF-S12A ULN runs at 800rpm without an adapter and 600rpm with the included adapter.

For testing I used Orthos Stress Prime to get load on the CPU and the ambient room temperature during testing was 24.5C (+/- .3C).

I tested the NF-S12A ULN connected to the motherboard header and using the included adapter.

Then here’s the comparison chart:

So as you can see pretty much all of the fans produce similar results. Running at 800rpm or 600rpm there’s only about a one degree difference.

The fan runs slow so you can expect it’s silent, you won’t hear it, and it won’t add additional noise to your system.
