Unboxing Continued
Once you remove the boxes, under them is a piece of cardboard and then under that is the actual NH-U12S CPU cooler.
The fan comes pre-installed for you and ready to go. The fan is the NF-F12 120mm fan.
The NH-U12S is a thin profile style CPU cooler, it’s only 45mm wide or deep and it’s 125mm wide. On the top you’ll find eight tops of heatpipes, the heatpipes are U-Shaped, so there’s really only four of them.
Here’s a couple more view of the cooler with the fan still attached:
Then here’s the views of the base section, here you can see the bottoms of the heatpipes and they’re staggered going into the cooling fins.
The base comes with the mounting hardware attached.
The hardware works for both AMD and Intel sockets so you’ll only need to install the correct hardware for or on the CPU socket.
One of the most important parts of any CPU cooler is the base of course and yes it’s not a mirror finish but that doesn’t matter as much as it being flat. The base is flat, or at least it seems very flat to me.
It does have a somewhat mirror finish to it as you can see from the next picture:
The fan is the Noctua NF-F12 as I mentioned.
As you can tell from the back of the fan it’s very unique looking. Noctua calls it a Focused Flow fan and that’s what those peculiar looking ‘fins’ on the back are for essentially.
Then of course here’s the NH-U12S without the fan on it. The cooler is very well made but that’s expected as it is a Noctua product and they are well made and designed.
