A Better Look at Things
The Hale 82 850 W arrives in a black and yellow-orange cardboard box with a listing of specs and features on the back. Inside the package we find the PSU nestled in protective foam padding with a white NZXT labeled satchel adjacent to it. Also in the box we find a user manual, some screws and power cable.
Opening the satchel we find six modular cables, two SATA, two Molex, and two PCI-E.
The HALE82 850W has an in all black housing with a 120mm fan to keep things cool. On top of the PSU is a label indicating the wattage and DC output of the power supply.
Coming off the interior portion of the power supply are three cables, one for the motherboard, another for the 8-pin connector and one for PCI-E connector. Next to these cables we see the modular inputs, which include four SATA/IDE and two labeled PCI-E/CPU.
Towards the rear is a honeycomb plate for improved air flow along with the power switch and three prong AC connector.
According to my editor Kris Brozio and some additional research on the web, the Hale82 line is actually a rebranded Seasonic power supply. Based on Seasonic’s reputation in the PSU market this is certainly good news.
