Unboxing
The The OtterBox for iPod nano 1st Generation Case comes package in the hermetically sealed plastic shell, that kind we see with many USB thumb drives and compact storage cards. You know the type I mean, the plastic package we have all sliced our hands upon. Sorry, I just hate that type of packaging.
Anyway, the packaging itself is small, and features a yellow card board with the OtterBox logo with the case positioned in the center. The packaging shows you exactly what you are getting leaving nothing hidden.
Once the packaging is carefully open, you immediately recognize the quality construction of this case. It feels solid and well built.
The central window is clear revealing the form of the iPod nano within the case, while the surrounding plastic is frosted. The click wheel on the iPod is protected by a membrane disc with a surrounding rubber ring.
The top latch is dark gray with a raised ridge for opening the case.
The base and back edge of the enclosure house the headphone jack, which is encased in a dark grey rubber.
The back of the case features two clear plastic slots for anchoring the belt clip. The belt clip is easily removed by raising the central tab and sliding it out. The belt clip has to side ridges which can be used for cable management. This helps store your headphones when they are not in use or to get rid of the excess slack of some longer headphone wires have when connected to the iPod.
If you choose not to carry the iPod case with the belt clip, you can choose to use the included lanyard. The lanyard has two T-shaped ends which insert just inside the top of the enclosure when the case is opened up. Closing the case secures the lanyard in place.
