Installation, Testing and Comparison
There is no installation involved except maybe growing hair to shave with this gadget… as I mentioned there is no instruction manual so I didn’t know how long to charge it for, but I did find out that it lights up when charging.
And it stays lit all the time apparently, I thought maybe the light would go out to let me know it was charged but it didn’t, so I only let it charge about four hours, and that seemed good enough.
For testing, I used myself as the guinea pig, fun, fun, so I shaved with my regular razor and let it grow back in for two days.
Here’s a closer shot, or the ‘before’ picture…
and here’s the ‘after’ shots:
You can see from the after shots it is a nice close shave, but I don’t think the USB Shaver is meant for hair that was quite that long, as it took me a good 15 minutes to shave what I did. I think this shaver is more of something to use the next day after a regular shave, or for getting rid of that five-o’clock shadow if you are going on a date or something to that effect.
I also own a Norelco SpeedRazor, the Rechargeable USB Shaver was actually a bit quieter than my Norelco, a lot smaller and more portable as well. To be honest I found the USB Shaver that costs $22 does as good of a job as my $100 Norelco.
I did get a nice close shave with the USB Shaver, it seems to work very well, I did find that I had to clean it a couple times during shaving as it seemed to not be cutting anymore, this also could be due to the fact that I let my facial hair grow a bit more than I intended to. I believe that USB Shaver would be fine for quick touch up jobs, but will not do any good at getting rid of a longer beard. I did find that the USB Shaver did irritate my skin a bit, but I do have sensitive skin and any electric razor irritates me, so others might not have the same problem as me, and of course that’s what aftershave or a skin conditioner is for, to help alleviate the irritation caused by shaving.
The Rechargeable USB Shaver is not quite the speed demon, but I found it take about as long as my Norelco Speed Razor does to shave with, so I think that is fast enough for me anyway… Without a manual I’m not sure how long to charge the battery for, but the charge seems to last a long time, it should be good for a few shaves anyway, and since it’s USB powered it can be charged very easily and quickly.
