Installation, Testing and Comparison
Prior to inserting the iPhone into the TuffWrap, one needs to apply the screen protector. From previous experience, I recommend to clean the iPhones screen with a lint free cloth. Next, while wearing some type of rubber glove, apply the screen protector, using a flat edge to push any bubbles out while laying the protector down on the iPhone.
Now the iPhone can be placed into the silicon case. Insert the iPhone into the TuffWrap, and then carefully stretch the top of the case over the top edge of the iPhone. Voila!
The first thing I noticed is that the left and right edges seemed a little bit lax compared to the rest of the iPhone. This keeps the TuffWrap from snapping onto the iPhone, similar to a wet suit on a diver. It does not put the iPhone in danger of slipping out, but is more of an aesthetic concern.
The TuffWrap does feel very secure in my hands. The addition of the side ridges provides extra security from slipping. In addition, the silicon is comfortable and has a slight tackiness to keep from sliding out of ones hands.
The silicon feels thick enough that it should protect the iPhone from most falls. One of the inherent problems with protecting the iPhone is the nature of its front surface. Since the whole front of the phone is used, it can not be protected from direct impact without impeding its use.
All the buttons are easily accessed, from the volume to the power button to the dock connector.
Unfortunately, one of the side effects of the grip ability of the case is that it tends to attract dust. This is a small quibble, but it may bother some folks.
