The Ladybug Mouse from USBGeek

You really can’t do much with your computer unless you have a mouse to go with it, and while there are many specialized mice out there, usually specific to gaming, the general use type mice tend to get overlooked or missed totally. Today for review I’ve got a themed general purpose mouse, from our friends at USBGeek, it looks like a ladybug, and depending what you’ll be using it for you might very well be very happy with this mouse. Since it is a Ladybug Mouse it isn’t going to make any guys out there very excited, but girls will like it (my wife does) and children will as well. From my time testing this mouse it seems like a fine general purpose mouse that basically does what it is intended to do, move the cursor around the screen and click on things…

A Better Look at Things

:

The packaging is actually very nicely done, besides the fact that I can’t read most of it, it does look good.

The Ladybug Mouse is sort of the colors of a ladybug, it has a red body with black spots with a silver face and even eyes on the mouse buttons. The scroll wheel located in the center lights up blue when powered on and is a textured rubber surface making it comfortable and easy to use.

The bottom of the Ladybug Mouse has four small, I think, telfon feet that work very well to keep the mouse gliding smoothly across most surfaces.

Installation, Testing and Comparison

Here’s the Ladybug Mouse next to my Logitech G5 laser gaming mouse for some comparison in sizes:

You can see from the above pictures that the Ladybug Mouse is a bit smaller that the G5, but slightly wider at the rear end. It is ergonomically shaped for more comfortable use.

Yes I used the Ladybug Mouse for playing games, although I felt a bit odd killing people with a ladybug in BF2142.

I found the mouse to be very sensitive and responsiveness was quick and accurate.

I used it with cloth, plastic and glass surface mousepads and it seemed to work fine on all surfaces.

I did find that the right-click button was not as sensitive as I would have liked it to be, you really had to push down on it to get it to work correctly or activate the sensor. I’m not sure if it was made this way or possibly a fault of this particular unit.

For general purpose uses the Ladybug mouse worked fine, except for the right-click problem I mentioned. I’m someone who uses the right-click menu very often to copy, paste and delete, so this was quite annoying to me.

Once I was done with my testing it just so happened that my wifes mouse was acting oddly and we figured it was about time for a new one so I gave her the Ladybug Mouse and she just loves it. She said that I had better give it a good score because she thinks it’s a great mouse overall. So I figured I’d ask her her opinion of it and she just adores it and thinks it’s great. She didn’t mention the right-click problem at all, and when asked, said it didn’t bother her as she really didn’t even use it. She thinks that for the price it is perfect for what she needs it to do, surf the internet and do word processing and play a few little games…

Summary:

Well you won’t be doing any hardcore gaming with this mouse, it can be a great general purpose mouse, it tracks very well and seems very sensitive to even the slightest movements. I use the right-click button (menu) often in my everyday work and it just seemed like extra work to click it…

While I personally wouldn’t be using this mouse on my desktop, as I am a guy, girls like it and kids do, my kids wanted it as soon as I opened the pack.

DragonSteelMods gives the The Ladybug Mouse a 4.5 out of 5 score.

Pros:

-Great general purpose mouse

-Great for kids or girls

-Excellent tracking

-Good feel and texture

-Lights up blue

-Make a great gift for kids or female companion

Cons:

-Buttons not that sensitive

I would like to thank USBGeek for the chance to review the The Ladybug Mouse and for their continued support of DSM.
