Trident Aegis Case for HTC One Review

Installation and Usage

I already have a screen protector on my HTC One so I’m not using the one that’s included with the Aegis case. If you’ve ever installed a screen protector then you know how they work, patience is the key for installation.

So here’s my HTC One with the case still together:

To get the One installed in the case you’ll need to take the case apart and separate it into its two sections.

Getting the inner part onto the HTC One is easily, just push and pull really to do it, the is rubber so it stretches right over the phone easily.

Here’s a few more shots of just the rubber case on the phone. Yes there are covers over the microUSB port and the audio jack.

The next step is to get the plastic section onto the phone. This is bit more involved as it rather stiff and you must make sure to pull the microUSB and audio port covers through the outer case while you’re putting it on.

Once your phone is completely in the case it pushes the Trident logo section out slightly so it protrudes to help, as I said above, to keep the phone from sliding.

The camera and flash section of the phone is very wide open, the case has a nice large hole so the case will not get in the way and interfere with either of them.

On the right side you’ll find the volume buttons, the case has small arrows on it for up and down and it sticks out slightly so you can feel the buttons without having to look.

The power button on the HTC One is also an IR Blaster or infrared transmitter so you can control your TV and other components. The Trident Aegis case open very wide as not to interfere with it. The case is also raised around the button so you can feel where the button is easily.

The cover over the audio jack is rubber and it should do a great job at keeping out dirt and dust. The cover locks into the plastic part of the case, and is fairly easy to open when needed.

On the bottom of the phone you’ll find the microphone and the microUSB port.

The microUSB port has the same sort of cover on it like the audio jack does.  I really like the addition od covers for the ports, it really helps to further protect your phone.

When it comes to cases for devices, specifically those types of cases meant to be rugged, OtterBox is probably going to be mentioned and it just so happens I have the OtterBox Commuter Series case for the HTC One and I found it to be very similar to the Trident Aegis case.

Here’s the backs of both cases, not that similar in looks. The cases though both use a two layer system, rubber or silicone inside and a hard outer shell. The Aegis case has a much larger opening for the camera and flash and of course there’s a screen protecting the secondary microphone on the back.

The big difference I think is that the Trident Aegis case actually seems to offer slightly more protection inside thanks to the tire tread pattern. I don’t know if it really does, but it looks as though it would as one would think the pattern would provide a bit more padding compared to just smooth surface.

Both cases though offer very good protection I think.
