Installation, Testing and Comparison
Here’s a quick comparison of the USB Flash Card MP3 Player next to a standard sized credit card, a gift card actually:
It’s the same size as a credit card and about as thick as three of them.
The mp3 player does have a red LED in it that lights up when charging, powered on, and playing music, it blinks while playing music and transferring data.
The AC adapter is very convenient, it allows you to charge the mp3 player or any other USB device while you’re away from a USB port on a computer. Most of the time you won’t find these included with gadgets that require USB power so it’s a nice extra that they’ve included.
Well I mentioned that the headphones are uncomfortable already, but they don’t sound to good either, you’ll want to switch them out for a better set. I used my SteelSeries Siberia In:Ear Headset with this mp3 player and it sounded much better.
Transfer time seemed quick, though I didn’t feel the need to run any speed tests on it, it’s more than quick enough to transfer your music to it.
-That battery life seems great, I’ve only fully charged it once and have used it for about 10 hours total now, I’m guessing that even when you are transferring songs to it it’s charging as well, so it may have gotten a little bit more charge while doing that a few times…
-I do not like the fact that the data/charging USB cable is proprietary, if you loose it your pretty much screwed, they could have easily used a mini-USB connection, but then they could not incorporate the audio and data connections… I’ve actually become kind of paranoid about loosing the cable for fear that if I do the device will be pretty much worthless to me or anyone else…
-Switching to a better quality set of headphones did make a difference in the overall sound of the USB Flash Card Mp3 Player, but it would have been nice to be able to adjust the bass and treble or maybe even some sort of mini equalizer with preset settings.
-I did notice a very faint hiss while using a better quality set of headphones, something that wasn’t there while using the included set…
