USB Skype Speaker Review

Installation, Testing and Comparison

Installing the USB Skype Speaker from Brando WorkShop is very easy, no drivers are needed, just plug and play basically.

I found the controls worked with the three media players I have an my laptop, Windows Media Player, ZoomPlayer and Quicktime Alternative player.

The sound was surprisingly good coming from the USB Skype Speaker, it’s not the greatest but it is better than the stock speakers on my Dell Latitude C640. It is also much louder compared to the Dells speakers, but it doesn’t work well with lots of bass it becomes very distorted, almost unintelligible.

Well it’s called a USB Skype Speaker right, but it can be used with other VoIP services as well. I tried it out using Skype and for general use as a speakerphone it works very well, you really don’t have the bass as you would from music or a movie, so the sound from the speaker was just fine for using with Skype. The person on the other end told me I soundly fairly good, but I couldn’t get very far away from the microphone, I guess that’s why there is a mic jack on the back of the speaker.
