A Better Look at Things
The USB Star Hub comes in an easy to open plastic clamshell, it’s not sealed so you can just pop it open. There’s not much to the packaging, just some very basic info on the front and back.
Opening the package we find only the hub and nothing else, no drivers are needed for a USB hub usually, unless of course you are running an older Windows operating system. There are no identifying marks on the device, other than the words ‘USB 2.0 HUB’. The hub comes packaged in its ‘Star’ form, this is where it gets its name obviously, and this is also a nice way to store it as well. One thing I noticed immediately, and really don’t like, is the fact that the cable is permanently attached to the hub. Sure you can argue that you can loose the cable, but cables are cheap and I’ve got tons of them, if you break this cable you no longer have use of the hub. I’d rather replace a cable than buy an entire new product…
