USB Web Camera with Telescope Review

Installation, Testing and Comparison pg1

To install the telescope to the camera you need to remove a small ring that covers the threads first. Then you just need to screw it onto the USB Camera and your ready to go, of course you will need to adjust the focus etc to get the picture clear.

Here’s a few pictures from different angles with the setup on the tripod so you can check it out.

Now comes the fun part, testing. Testing indoors is very easy, the camera takes great movies and stills indoors, outside, which you will find out soon, is a bit of a different story. The still pictures that the USB Camera takes are only 320×240 resolution, so don’t expect to much. The movies however can be blown up to full screen and actually don’t get that bad. My two cats were the indoor subjects, Hokey and Pokey are their names and they are part Siamese and Alley Cat, if you care to know. The still picture is of Pokey, and the movie is the two of them playing or fighting as brothers so often do. The USB Camera puts the movies into .AVI files so I had to transfer them to .MPG to make them a bit smaller, the movie is a little over 1 minute long.

Click here for the direct link to the movie through WMP, or just watch the YouTube version.
